About Mad Woman Metals

Mad Woman Metals slowly came to life after taking an introductory metalsmithing class from a local artist in the fall of 2021. I collected tools, read books, watched YouTube videos, and obsessively purchased gemstones - only to create a handful of pieces over the next year and a half. After being laid off from my full-time job in January of 2023, I felt inspired to get back to the bench and start creating; I sold my first piece in March and considered Mad Woman Metals fully established. I've spent many hours learning by trial and error and am eternally grateful for the kind smiths that answer my questions along the way. This community rocks 🤘🏼

I was born and raised in SoCal, lived in Boise, Idaho for 8 years, and finally settled in Hood River, Oregon. I am an avid hiker, trail runner, and love to camp and travel with my husband, Danny. We have a sweet and sensitive Wirehaired Pointing Griffon named Trout, a wild and snuggly mutt named BoJack, and a strikingly handsome cat named Julio. I hold a masters degree in demographic and social analysis and a bachelors degree in sociology. I work full-time at a local social services nonprofit in the Columbia River Gorge and volunteer for the Northwest Abortion Access Fund. Metalsmithing has become my meditation practice and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me. Your likes, shares, comments, and purchases mean the world to me and my small business. Thank you for your support!
