About Mad Woman Metals
Mad Woman Metals slowly came to life after taking an introductory metalsmithing class from a local artist in the fall of 2021. I collected tools, read books, watched YouTube videos, and obsessively purchased gemstones - only to create a handful of pieces over the next year and a half. After being laid off from my full-time job in January of 2023, I felt inspired to get back to the bench and start creating; I sold my first piece in March and considered Mad Woman Metals fully established. I've spent many hours self-teaching and learning by trial and error and am eternally grateful for the kind smiths that answer my questions along the way. This community rocks 🤘🏼
I was born and raised in SoCal and moved to Boise, Idaho in January 2017. I am an avid hiker, trail runner, and love to camp and travel with my husband, Danny. We have a very sweet Wirehaired Pointing Griffon named Trout and a strikingly handsome cat named Julio. I have a masters degree in demographic and social analysis and a bachelors degree in sociology; my passion for reproductive & LGBTQIA+ rights, gender equality, and racial & social justice fuels my personal drive. Metalsmithing has become my meditation practice and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me. Your likes, shares, comments, and purchases mean the world to me and my small business. Thank you for your support!
